Sanijeongwon in Haenam County is the largest children’s specialized garden in Korea, developed over a 520,000㎡ forest area, featuring an arboretum, walking trails, cafes, an art museum, and playground facilities. Currently, facilities such as a glamping site, children’s golf course, and tropical botanical garden are being developed with the goal of a second phase opening in May next year.

It has been promoted since 2020 as part of the Solar City enterprise city development project and is scheduled for official opening on May 4th.

On the day, the committee members listened to the vision, project progress, and future plans of Sanijeongwon and discussed its development direction. They also inspected various sites to assess the progress of the project and checked for safety accident prevention.

Chairman Lee Cheol said, “It is meaningful to have created a large-scale, nature-friendly, complex cultural space for children in Haenam,” adding, “Sanijeongwon, which holds many meanings such as carbon neutrality, sustainable development, and coexistence of nature and people, is expected to establish itself as a space for communication with future generations.”

He continued, “As the largest facility of its kind nationwide, it should be developed into a healthy resting place where not only residents of the province but also travelers from across the country can enjoy their leisure time.”
