On the 20th, Ms. A bowed her head and apologized through her Instagram, saying, "I apologize to those who were hurt by my video," and added, "Children can be sick whether born young or old, and children can be healthy whether born at an older age," expressing regret over her remarks.
Ms. A stated, "This video was not made to hurt anyone," and explained, "It was created with the hope of fostering a positive perception that there are many advantages to marrying early and having children in today's low birthrate era." She continued, "While some people who, like me, had children at a young age say it gives them strength, I understand that some were hurt, so I am leaving this message," and added, "I want to apologize once again and thank the many people who supported me."
Earlier, on the 9th, Ms. A attracted attention by posting a video titled "It is good to give birth in your 20s" on her SNS. The 20 advantages she mentioned included: ▲ faster recovery after childbirth ▲ healthy children ▲ sufficient physical strength for childcare ▲ having goals ▲ friends being amazed by the childbirth and often visiting to help with the child ▲ developing a strong sense of responsibility ▲ initial difficulties that ease over time, among others.
Although the video did not contain any negative content criticizing or belittling others, it received over 2,000 malicious comments. The main reason for the backlash was that it was seen as promoting prejudice. Netizens criticizing Ms. A responded sharply with comments such as, "It sounds like you’re saying it’s bad to have children later," "I would definitely oppose if my daughter said she would have a child in her 20s," and "What difference does it make when you give birth?"
Many also felt the video was out of touch with the current trend where women’s increased participation in society has delayed marriage and pregnancy, leading to more advanced maternal age pregnancies. While some comments urged restraint in criticizing young mothers raising children regardless of Ms. A’s claims, malicious comments continue to be posted.
