Busan Office of Education Launches Special Inspection of School Meal Sites

Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is launching a special inspection of school meals in preparation for the new semester.

On the 20th, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced that Superintendent Ha Yoon-su and other senior officials will conduct a special inspection of school meals to prevent hygiene accidents related to school meals, such as food poisoning.

This special inspection aims to raise awareness among school meal and food ingredient suppliers following the joint inspection conducted by the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, Busan City, Busan Food and Drug Administration, and district and county offices in early March at the start of the school year.

The inspection will begin on the 21st with Superintendent Ha Yoon-su checking food ingredients at Banyeo High School and Deputy Superintendent Choi Yoon-hong monitoring a tasting session at Anjin Elementary School on the same day. After establishing a separate plan, senior officials from the education office will conduct direct inspections.

The education office plans to thoroughly review all aspects of school meal operations, including food ingredient inspection, cooking, distribution, and tasting, while also holding communication sessions to listen to the difficulties faced by school meal personnel and seek improvement measures.

Superintendent Ha Yoon-su stated, “This inspection was organized to raise awareness of the importance of hygiene management in school meals and to resolve on-site difficulties. Going forward, our education office will do its best to provide safe and high-quality school meals to growing students.”

In addition to this special inspection, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education plans to fully commit to preventing food poisoning through initiatives such as free rental of the handwashing education device ‘View Box’ in cooperation with the Busan Food and Drug Administration, on-site food poisoning prevention diagnostic consulting, and simulated food poisoning drills.
