Ultra-Low Price 'Wings' Amid High Inflation... GS25 "PB Product Sales Up 714%"

Results of Introducing 'Real Price' Convenience Stores... Expansion to 17 Types

As prices continue to soar day by day, ultra-low-priced private brand (PB) products from retailers are selling like hotcakes.

GS25, a convenience store operated by GS Retail, announced on the 20th that sales of its PB Real Price products, which are being focused on as price stabilization items, grew by 714.7% in January and February of this year compared to the first two months after their launch. The company explained that prolonged high inflation has driven consumer demand to reduce the burden on shopping baskets, sharply increasing the sales scale of Real Price products.

Ultra-Low Price 'Wings' Amid High Inflation... GS25 "PB Product Sales Up 714%"

Real Price is a "super cost-effective" PB launched by GS Retail since 2017 by actively discovering and introducing products from excellent manufacturers with price competitiveness. To fully commit to stabilizing soaring prices, GS Retail has expanded the Real Price products, which were previously operated mainly through its supermarket GS The Fresh, to GS25 since August last year.

Riding on the popularity of Real Price, GS25 will sequentially introduce three new products starting from the 21st: Real Butter Cookies 420g (3,980 won), Real Cooking Crab Stick 132g (2,000 won), and Real Busan Fish Cake 138g (1,300 won), expanding the product lineup to 17 items. Along with this, a promotion will be held until the end of this month where customers who pay for Real Price products using KakaoPay will receive 30% of the purchase amount back.

Park Jong-seo, head of the product strategy team at GS Retail, said, “We plan to focus on expanding Real Price products centered on product categories with active consumption,” adding, “We aim to actively contribute to stabilizing soaring shopping basket prices by fully leveraging the synergy of GS Retail’s convenience store and supermarket channels.”
