Perpetrator Who Damaged New BMW, 16-Year-Old Middle School Student
Owner: "Student Side Has Not Offered a Proper Apology"
A suspect who kicked a BMW vehicle that had been released just three months ago and then disappeared was revealed to be a 16-year-old female middle school student. According to JTBC's 'Sageon Banjang' on the 19th, the car owner, Mr. A, expressed frustration, saying that the student B and her parents showed inappropriate attitudes rather than offering a proper apology.
Mr. A previously reported, “Four students were smoking near the car, and when one started kicking, the others followed and kicked as well.” He said, “The (perpetrator) came repeatedly at intervals of 30 minutes, 2 minutes, and 6 minutes. She came and went, rhythmically, as if having fun.” He added, “The girl kicked first, and then the boy followed. I had all sorts of thoughts.”
Mr. A tried to find the culprit himself but said it was not easy. He revealed, “I parked on my day off and waited in ambush. I had to catch them before the CCTV footage retention period (2 weeks) expired, so it was quite difficult.” Accordingly, Mr. A posted on an online community, “My parked car was damaged,” offering a reward of 500,000 won for information about the perpetrator.
"I'm a minor, so I'm excited to see what kind of punishment I'll get" SNS post
Eventually, through a tip from someone who knew the female perpetrator, Mr. A was able to find Ms. B. According to Mr. A, Ms. B captured an article about her crime and posted it on social media, showing no remorse by saying, “I'm a minor, so I'm excited to see what kind of punishment I'll get.” She also made an absurd statement about the reason for the crime, saying, “I had bad memories with BMW.”
Frustrated, Mr. A tried to contact Ms. B to ask about the situation at the time, but received no response. He said, “After holding back, I called Ms. B’s mother,” and added, “She was laughing while talking. When I said, ‘This is not the time to laugh,’ she asked about the car repair costs.” He continued, “When I said the car hadn’t been repaired yet, she said to give her the estimate when it was ready. Usually, parents come to apologize or at least call, but this person only made excuses, saying things like ‘My husband is the sole breadwinner, we have no money,’ which is nonsense,” he lamented.
Later, when Mr. A proposed a settlement amounting to 12 million won, including repair estimates, unit costs, and compensation for mental damages, there was no response from Ms. B’s side. Just before the settlement period ended, they said, “We don’t have a large sum of over 10 million won at the moment.” Mr. A said, “I feel there is no intention to settle. I hope Ms. B receives appropriate punishment.” It was reported that Ms. B has been sent to the prosecution.
Netizens who came across the case responded with comments such as “She should be punished according to the law,” “Being young doesn’t mean the crime is less or lighter,” “There should be no lenient punishment,” and “The world is not a place where you can kick things recklessly just because you’re angry.”
