Yeongdeungpo-gu to Host the 18th Yeouido Spring Flower Festival... Preparing to Welcome Visitors with the Theme ‘Spring Flower Picnic’ from 3.29 to 4.2

Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) will fully host the representative spring festival, the ‘Yeouido Spring Flower Festival,’ from March 29 to April 2 along Yeouiseo-ro (from the southern end of Seogang Bridge to the entrance of Yeoui 2 Bridge, 1.7 km) and at the National Assembly soccer field in the Hangang Park under Yeouiseo-ro.

Celebrating its 18th edition, this year’s festival is themed ‘Spring Flower Picnic (Picnic under the Cherry Blossom),’ and the entire venue will be decorated as a picnic zone with a ‘campnic’ (camping + picnic) concept, allowing visitors to leisurely enjoy spring in the city.

Notably, this year introduces the ‘Yeongdeungpo Art Cube’ for the first time, where visitors can experience artworks by local Yeongdeungpo artists. The Art Cube will showcase and facilitate sales of small-scale works priced under 1 million KRW. Visitors can appreciate various works by artists from Mullae-dong and the local area, centered around the sculpture ‘Dog’ by Kim Woo-jin, a rising star in contemporary art.

Also, for the first time in Seoul, a program called ‘Spring Flower Walk with the Heart’ will be developed and operated to provide festival explanations for visually impaired visitors. A video narrator will accompany participants, allowing them to experience spring through auditory and tactile senses, along with a Hangang yacht experience for a unique adventure. This program will run once daily from March 29 to April 2, with plans to refine it after this pilot year and convert it into a regular program next year.

With about 1,800 cherry blossom trees creating a spectacular view, the festival offers a variety of attractions, food, and entertainment for visitors.

The festival kicks off with a ‘Flower Path Walk’ parade involving about 500 residents, followed by ▲the ‘Spring Flower Stage’ featuring diverse musical performances every afternoon ▲the ‘Food Picnic Zone’ with various food options ▲‘Street Performances’ enlivening the cherry blossom path ▲‘Rest Areas’ installed throughout the venue ▲‘Yacht Tours’ in collaboration with Seoul Marina Resort ▲and ‘Photo Zones’ perfect for taking pictures with the cherry blossoms.

Furthermore, the district operates the ‘Yeongdeungpo Spring Flower Sale Festa,’ offering discounts at local restaurants, hotels, and more for visitors to the Yeouido Spring Flower Festival. This runs from March 25 to April 30. Detailed discount information and participating locations can be found on the ‘Yeongdeungpo Sale Festa’ website.

In addition, services such as a ▲tourist information center with foreign language support ▲stroller and baby wagon rentals ▲baby rest areas ▲and a medical support situation room are provided to ensure visitors have a comfortable spring flower picnic experience.

For visitor safety, from noon on March 28 to 10 p.m. on April 4, vehicle traffic will be completely restricted on Yeouiseo-ro behind the National Assembly (1.7 km), from the Seogang Bridge southern public parking lot to the Yeoui downstream IC section. During the festival, authorities will also conduct frequent crackdowns to prevent violations of basic order such as illegal street vending and unauthorized parking.

Moreover, not only on the Yeouiseo-ro cherry blossom path but also in the Yeouinaru Station area, where many spring visitors gather, order maintenance personnel and exemplary drivers will be deployed. Electric scooters and bicycles will be prohibited from riding on the cherry blossom path to ensure a safe festival.

Detailed information about the spring flower festival can be found on the Yeongdeungpo-gu Office or Yeongdeungpo Cultural Foundation websites.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “This year, with the theme of a spring flower picnic, we have prepared various spaces and programs so that people can leisurely enjoy spring amid their busy lives. I hope families, couples, and friends feel the warm breeze and fully enjoy the arrival of spring at the flower festival.”

Songpa-gu Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival Held from March 27 to 31

Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) will hold the Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival from March 27 to 31 around Seokchon Lake.

The Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival is one of Seoul’s representative spring flower festivals in the eastern and western regions, alongside the Yeouido Spring Flower Festival.

Various events will be prepared to fully enjoy the blooming cherry blossoms.

Starting with the ‘Eungbongsan Forsythia Festival’ on the 21st, followed by the ‘Songjeong Village Cherry Blossom Festival’ on the 22nd and the ‘Geumhosan Cherry Blossom Festival’ on the 24th

Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) will host a variety of spring flower festivals filled with the scent of spring starting March 21. From March 21 to 23, the ‘2024 Eungbongsan Forsythia Festival’ will be held at Eungbongsan, the village where spring arrives earliest. Eungbongsan is a low, small rocky mountain 81 meters high, spanning Geumho-dong and Eungbong-dong in Seongdong-gu. It is known as a scenic spot for viewing Seoul, and every March, the entire mountain is covered with forsythia flowers, making it the earliest place to announce spring in Seoul.

On the first day of the festival, March 21, the opening performance will begin with calligraphy artist Kim So-young and the fusion gugak band ‘Yeon,’ followed by a forsythia seedling planting event. About 50 residents, recruited through prior registration, will plant seedlings together to help preserve the beautiful Eungbongsan.

On the second day, various activities such as a forsythia photo zone, face painting, and a food market will be available. On the final day, March 23, celebratory performances will be held by the popera group ‘Victoria,’ tap dance group ‘Band Param,’ and the Seongdong-gu Boys and Girls Choir. Additionally, a writing contest and drawing competition involving local children and youth will take place.

The district is recruiting 200 participants for the writing and drawing contests through online pre-registration, and an additional 100 participants will be accepted on-site on the event day on a first-come, first-served basis. The themes will be selected by the Seongdong Literary Association and Seongdong Art Association and revealed on the event day. Winners will be announced around mid-April.

On March 22, the ‘7th Songjeong Village Cherry Blossom Festival’ will be held, hosted by the Songjeong Village Cherry Blossom Festival Promotion Committee, along the Songjeong Cherry Blossom Road from Seongdong Bridge to Jangpyeong Bridge, following the embankment of the Dongbu Expressway and Jungnangcheon Stream. The Songjeong Cherry Blossom Road is one of Seoul’s top 10 walking spots and a beloved promenade for residents.

The Songjeong Village Cherry Blossom Festival also offers a variety of programs to enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms.

These include various experience booths such as fingerprint aptitude tests for mothers and children, photo zones for families and friends to create memories, and flea markets where local small business owners and youth enterprises exhibit, promote, and sell creative products. At Songjeong Sports Park, a pungmul (traditional percussion music) pre-performance, invited singer performances, and a Seongdong senior model fashion show will be held.

On March 24, the ‘20th Geumhosan Cherry Blossom Festival’ will be held at Geumhosan Barefoot Park, hosted by the Geumhosan Cherry Blossom Festival Promotion Committee. Geumhosan Barefoot Park is located between Seoul Forest and Namsan Dulle-gil and is a place where various spring flowers, including cherry blossoms, bloom in spring. It offers excellent views of downtown Seoul and is a popular spot among nearby residents.

The festival will feature diverse programs such as samulnori (traditional percussion) performances, taekwondo demonstrations, harmonica concerts, invited singer celebrations, resident singing contests, and food markets.

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “We will do our best to ensure safety management so that visitors to Seongdong-gu’s spring flower festivals can enjoy the events comfortably and happily. I hope that by enjoying the spring flower festivals together, the bodies and minds that have been contracted during winter will bloom brightly like spring flowers, and that many happy memories will be made with loved ones.”

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) will hold the Jangandong Spring Flower Festival on March 30 and 31 along the Jungnangcheon embankment in Jangandong.
