Yang Seung-jo Wins Unified Primary Against Progressive Party Candidate Kim Young-ho

Yang Seung-jo, the Democratic Party of Korea's preliminary candidate, and Kim Young-ho, the Progressive Party's preliminary candidate, have agreed to unify their candidacies for the 22nd National Assembly election in the Chungnam Hongseong-gun and Yesan-gun electoral district.
Yang, who was selected as the unified opposition candidate for Chungnam Hongseong-gun and Yesan-gun, held a press conference at the Chungnam Provincial Government Office on the 19th and stated, "We unified the opposition to fulfill the public demand to correct the backward Yoon Seok-yeol administration," adding, "From today, I intend to work together with candidate Kim Young-ho with the mindset of rebuilding the country."
He continued, "The Hongseong-gun and Yesan-gun area has chosen conservative parties for nearly 40 years but has been stagnant for a long time," emphasizing, "We must not fear change and should open a new era for Hongseong-gun and Yesan-gun."
He said, "I will devote the political wisdom of a four-term National Assembly member and the experience of a governor," and added, "With a do-or-die determination, I will win and repay the passionate support of the residents by becoming a representative politician of Korea who achieves greater politics and accomplishes more."
Earlier, Yang won the unification primary against Kim through a public opinion poll conducted from the 16th to the 17th.
