Signed a business agreement with Korea Climate Environment Institute, showing commitment to climate crisis response
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) held an appointment ceremony for climate environment citizen instructors on the 18th at the district office's planning situation room. This aims to induce carbon neutrality and green living practices through systematic environmental education on the climate change crisis.
Twelve local residents with expertise and experience in the environmental field were selected. They will begin full-scale activities from March and serve as citizen instructors until the end of the year. They will visit local elementary schools to educate about the climate environment and continue promotional activities to shift awareness of the climate crisis.
Efforts to respond to the climate change crisis do not end here. On the same day, the district signed a business agreement with the Korea Climate Environment Institute (Director Jeon Ui-chan) to respond to the climate crisis through citizen environmental education.
The Gwangjin Environmental Education Center will be reopened to initiate change. With the goal of "environmental education with families," regular monthly theoretical education and practical training will be conducted. Specifically, various programs such as ▲ watching videos to change awareness of the climate crisis ▲ preparing eco-friendly meals that reduce carbon ▲ making shopping bags and shampoo bars are being prepared.
Along with this, the district is also promoting a "paperless office" to achieve carbon neutrality. Instead of conventional paper printing, electronic documents will be utilized, and unnecessary document creation will be eliminated. The use of video conferencing and tablet computers is planned to drastically reduce paper usage.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "Education to improve citizens' awareness of the climate environment is the top priority to overcome the imminent climate crisis," adding, "We will continue to take the lead in discovering and supporting district-level policies so that future generations can live in a safe and clean environment."
In addition, the district is implementing various environmental policies that can be practiced in daily life, such as subsidies for purchasing eco-friendly vehicles, energy-saving champion contests, the Gwangjin Environmental Festival, and the Climate 1.5 Degree Film Festival.
