West Sea Coast Guard Agency Practices Sharing Culture for Unused Computer Equipment

Four High-Quality Laptops Donated Free to Underprivileged Groups... Efforts to Bridge the Digital Divide Underway

The West Sea Regional Coast Guard Agency (Chief Kim Inchang) announced on the 19th that it practiced a culture of sharing by donating obsolete computer equipment free of charge to the Gwangju Metropolitan City Disabled Informatization Association, a non-profit organization, to bridge the digital divide among marginalized groups.

According to the Property Management Act, government agencies can donate obsolete items free of charge to local governments, public institutions, and non-profit organizations for reuse.

Accordingly, the West Sea Coast Guard Agency donated four high-quality laptops that could be utilized to the Gwangju Metropolitan City Disabled Informatization Association free of charge.

The recipient organization, the Gwangju Metropolitan City Disabled Informatization Association, is a group that conducts free informatization education and computer distribution projects for disabled people and marginalized groups to expand social participation and raise awareness.

A representative of the West Sea Coast Guard Agency said, “We used to sell or dispose of obsolete items at low prices, but through this free donation, we have practiced warm sharing,” adding, “We will continue to support vulnerable groups and pursue proactive administration.”
