Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam, has equipped all 269 senior centers in the region with first aid kits for emergency treatment.
The main items in the first aid kits include 25 types such as wound ointment, antipyretic analgesics, disinfectants, adhesive bandages, and pain relief patches, with a project budget of 30 million KRW invested this year.
More than 20 health workers plan to visit each location every three months to manage the first aid kits directly. They will provide education on emergency treatment and how to use the first aid kits to the senior center users, as well as thoroughly check the expiration dates of consumables.
In areas such as Idong-myeon, Seomyeon, Gohyeon-myeon, and Seolcheon-myeon, where there are no pharmacies or pharmacies do not operate until late hours, primary crisis management response is expected to become possible.
Gwak Gidu, the head of the health center, said, “I hope these kits will be useful in the event of safety accidents among the elderly at senior centers. I wish our seniors to live healthily, laugh freely, and enjoy a vibrant old age.”
