KPR Digital Communication Research Institute Analysis
Increased Interest Through Customized Services
Consumers are most expecting personalized service experiences and efficient energy-saving effects from home appliances introduced by global companies applying artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
According to the Digital Communication Research Institute affiliated with the comprehensive communication group KPR on the 19th, an analysis of social big data related to AI home appliances over the past year showed that interest in AI home appliances last month reached 2,830 mentions, more than doubling compared to a year ago.
In particular, in January when the world's largest home appliance and IT exhibition 'CES 2024' was held, the number of mentions increased by 82% compared to the previous month. The institute analyzed, "Digital technology rapidly advanced through the COVID-19 pandemic, and as consumers experienced AI’s personalized services through platforms like ChatGPT, their expectations for AI home appliances have significantly increased."
In the analysis of related words to identify consumer expectations, consumers showed high interest in personalized service experiences provided by AI home appliances and the improvement of sustainability through efficient energy management.
AI home appliances recognize various information such as the user's wake-up time, water drinking time, and preferred menu, providing necessary information according to the situation or operating other home appliances connected as a hub. They function tailored to individual consumers. The institute reported that such experiences are actively shared on social media. Keywords such as environment, efficiency, and energy appeared at the top, confirming that integrated management of energy and environment using AI leads to consumers’ expectations for energy savings.
Kim Eun-yong, director of the research institute, said, "As AI technology is applied to home appliances, consumer expectation factors differ from those of general home appliances," adding, "Personalized services through continuous data learning and cost reduction through efficient energy management will be important considerations in choosing AI home appliances."
