Listening to Local Livestock Farmers' Issues and Exploring Development Directions
Shin Seong-beom, a preliminary candidate of the People Power Party, held a meeting with executives of the Geochang-gun branch of the Korea Hanwoo Association at the Geochang-gun Agricultural Hall to listen to the current issues of local livestock farms and seek directions for development.
At the meeting held on the 18th, 12 executives including Branch Manager Lee Nam-kwon, Deputy Managers Byeon Hyun-tae, Son Shin-gu, Jang Byeong-seong, and heads of various subcommittees attended and requested the additional construction of a regional hub compost eco-friendly resource center.
Branch Manager Lee emphasized, "This is an essential part for stable compost processing and creating a clean breeding environment for small and medium-sized livestock farms," adding, "It can help us advance into a leading livestock region and resolve complaints from residents."
He also said, "Since livestock accounts for 46% of Geochang's agricultural income, we hope for an expansion of livestock administration befitting the status of the livestock industry."
In addition, discussions were held on expanding policy funds for farm management stabilization, establishing a feed stabilization fund, enacting individual laws for sustainable livestock farming, revising the National Assembly review for duty-free import of agricultural and livestock products for food security, amending the Livestock Industry Promotion Act, expanding public direct payments, and revising guidelines for electricity bill reductions at slaughterhouses.
Preliminary candidate Shin empathized with the difficulties faced by livestock farmers and said, "The additional construction of the eco-friendly resource center is necessary, and I will actively discuss it together with the administration."
