Gwangyang Economic Free Zone Authority Holds 20th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony

The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority (Commissioner Song Sang-rak, hereinafter GFEZ Authority) announced that it will hold an opening anniversary event on the 3rd floor of the GFEZ Authority's main conference room on the 21st.

This event was prepared to look back on the achievements made over the past 20 years since the opening day of the GFEZ Authority (March 24) and to promote a new vision internally and externally to enhance the status of the GFEZ Authority.

The event will begin with a pre-ceremony, followed by a commemorative ceremony attended by heads of related organizations and groups, as well as representatives of companies residing in GFEZ, where awards will be presented to contributors to the development of GFEZ, a commemorative video will be screened, and a ceremony will be held with key guests.

In addition, to explore future growth directions, the ‘Gwangyang Bay Area Secondary Battery Industry Promotion Forum’ will be held, and a white paper announcing the achievements and vision of GFEZ will be published to establish a new milestone for the GFEZ Authority.

Song Sang-rak, Commissioner of the GFEZ Authority, stated, “Through this 20th anniversary opening event, we will look back on the development and investment attraction achievements of GFEZ, and based on this, the Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone will create a turning point to become a new growth engine for our country.”

Since being designated as a free economic zone on October 30, 2003, and opening on March 24 the following year, the GFEZ Authority has utilized its advantageous geopolitical location for overseas expansion to attract 473 domestic and foreign companies, realize investments of 23 trillion won, and create 50,000 jobs, achieving remarkable regional development results.
