At Sangrim Goun Plaza, Over 9,000 Seedlings of 24 Species Including Fruit Trees, Medicinal Plants, and Wildflowers Distributed on a First-Come, First-Served Basis
Gyeongnam Hamyang-gun announced on the 19th that it will hold the "Companion Tree Distribution Event" at Gowoon Square in Sangnim Park on the 21st in celebration of the 79th Arbor Day.
The event, starting at 2 p.m. on the day, will distribute about 9,000 seedlings of 24 species including apple jujube, walnut, and peach to Hamyang residents, with each person receiving three seedlings on a first-come, first-served basis.
For this year's tree distribution event, the county, Hamyang National Forest Management Office, Hamyang County Forestry Cooperative, and Hamyang County Forestry Successor Association, among other related organizations, cooperated to prepare fruit trees, medicinal trees, ornamental trees, and wildflowers.
An official from the county stated, "Through this companion tree distribution event, we hope that residents will nurture and grow their trees with the mindset of lifelong companionship, and also take this opportunity to appreciate the importance of trees in overcoming the climate crisis." He added, "We ask all participating residents to maintain order so that the event can proceed smoothly and to actively cooperate with the event operations on the day."
