Gangdong-gu 'Resident Participation Budget Proposal Project' Contest

Open for Applications Until May 31... Total Scale of 2 Billion KRW, Open to All Residents
Priority Will Be Given After Reviewing Project Feasibility, Then Reflected in Next Year's Budget Proposal

Gangdong-gu 'Resident Participation Budget Proposal Project' Contest

Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced on the 19th that it will hold a public contest for the ‘Resident Participatory Budget Proposal Projects’ for the 2025 budget allocation until May 31.

The resident participatory budget system is a system where residents directly participate in budget formulation to enhance the transparency and reliability of financial management.

This year’s budget scale is a total of 2 billion KRW, and the contest target projects include ▲projects to improve a pleasant local environment ▲reinforcement projects for public facilities such as roads, sidewalks, and parks ▲resident safety-related projects, and small-scale neighborhood benefit projects closely related to residents’ daily lives.

Projects submitted through resident proposals will be reviewed for feasibility, and priorities will be selected based on their closeness to residents’ daily lives, then reflected in the 2025 main budget (draft). The final budget allocation results will be disclosed on the district website in December after approval by the district council.

Also, recruitment for the ‘2024 Resident Participatory Budget Committee’ members is ongoing until March 26. The committee supports collecting residents’ opinions throughout the district’s budget process and the efficient operation of the resident participatory budget system.

Last year, the district allocated a total of 2.814 billion KRW for 39 projects proposed by residents in the 2024 fiscal year budget.

Yoon Hee-eun, Head of the Planning and Budget Division, said, “We ask for the active interest and participation of residents so that many policies that residents can feel directly can be discovered.”

Any Gangdong-gu resident or business employee can apply. To apply for resident proposal projects and the Resident Participatory Budget Committee member recruitment, download the application form from the district website (Participation & Communication → District Administration Participation → Resident Budget Participation Room → Notice Board → Click related post), then register the post or submit via email, fax, visit to the district office Planning and Budget Division or the local community center, or by mail (District Office Planning and Budget Division, person in charge OOO).
