Operation of High-Risk Group Shared Space Creation and Network Formation Program for Gwanak-Type Solitary Death Prevention Project
Public Recruitment of Private Entities to Carry Out the Project Open Until March 22
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is publicly recruiting private organizations to carry out the 2024 "Pilot Project for the Prevention and Management of Solitary Deaths," which supports the formation of social networks by operating shared spaces for those at risk of social isolation.
According to the "Research on the Actual Condition of Solitary Death Prevention" announced by the Ministry of Health and Welfare last January, 4 out of 5 single-person households reported experiencing social isolation, making isolation and loneliness challenges that must be addressed throughout society.
By gender, men showed higher rates than women, and by age group, the proportion of high-risk individuals was highest in their 50s. The service needs of the high-risk group for solitary death were ranked as meal preparation, making friends, and job counseling. People in their 50s are more vulnerable to social isolation due to weaker social networks with family and friends when they lose economic power from unemployment, as they receive fewer welfare benefits compared to the elderly aged 65 and over.
In response, the district plans to implement various projects this year to meet the welfare needs of the high-risk group for solitary death, reflecting the Ministry of Health and Welfare's research results. This year, with a project budget of 50 million KRW, shared spaces accessible to residents at risk of social isolation will be operated, and various programs to support the formation of social networks among residents will be conducted.
To this end, organizations with capabilities in this field are being publicly recruited. Interested organizations (institutions) should submit the required documents, including the project application, project plan, and organization introduction, by visiting the Welfare Policy Division of Gwanak-gu Office or by email by March 22.
For more details, please check the announcement and application forms on the Gwanak-gu Office website (News & Notices → Public Announcements) or contact the Welfare Policy Division of Gwanak-gu Office.
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, "The decisive factor in creating a healthy and happy life is warm relationships with people," and added, "We hope many capable organizations will show interest and participate in the project recruitment for the prevention of social isolation and solitary deaths."
