District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho Conducts On-Site Inspection on 18th...Explores Safety Enhancement Measures While Checking School Routes
Secures Safety in School Zones by Implementing Time-Restricted Vehicle Traffic at Guui Elementary School
Continues Communication with Students and Staff...“Swift Implementation of Field-Centered Traffic Environment Improvements”
Kim Kyung-ho, the mayor of Gwangjin District, took a communication-focused approach on the 18th by inspecting school commute safety in child protection zones to mark the new semester.
Earlier, the district had conducted safety inspections of school routes in preparation for the start of the semester. They visited 21 elementary schools and 38 child protection zones within the area to identify points for improvement in traffic safety facilities and promptly carried out maintenance.
Following this preliminary preparation, after the semester began, the mayor observed the vivid scenes on site. Mayor Kim Kyung-ho toured four elementary schools?Guui, Seongdong, Yangnam, and Seongja?to devise traffic environment improvement measures that could be directly experienced.
In particular, Guui Elementary School implemented a time-based vehicle traffic restriction starting on the 18th, which received special attention. This measure blocks vehicle entry during peak school commute hours with heavy traffic, initiated to strengthen safety in child protection zones. As it was the first day of enforcement, any shortcomings were carefully examined to ensure smooth progress in the future.
Additionally, efforts were made to explore improvements such as adding speed bumps and protective fences to establish a flawless safety system. The mayor also engaged in communication with faculty and students, reflecting a commitment to practical, field-centered countermeasures.
Kim Kyung-ho, mayor of Gwangjin District, stated, “As we welcome the new semester full of excitement, we are fully committed to ensuring the safety of school routes so that children can commute with peace of mind. We will always listen closely to voices from the field and strive to create a ‘Safe Environment Gwangjin’ free of traffic accidents.”
