Education Program for Elementary, Middle, and High Schools

Jinju City, the entrepreneurial capital of the Republic of Korea, has joined hands with the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship Foundation to expand Jinju K-Entrepreneurship into the Seoul metropolitan area.

On the 18th, Cho Gyu-il, Mayor of Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, met with Lim Tae-hee, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education along with Kim Jong-wook, Vice Chairman of the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship Foundation, to discuss ways to promote Jinju K-Entrepreneurship education for elementary, middle, and high school students in the Gyeonggi region in connection with the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship Center.

Mayor Cho explained to Superintendent Lim, “For elementary, middle, and high school students who will lead the future of the Republic of Korea to grow into global leaders pioneering the Fourth Industrial Revolution era, Jinju K-Entrepreneurship education, which respects human dignity and values community, is essential,” and described the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship expansion projects that Jinju City has been promoting.

He further proposed, “Please utilize Seungsan Village in Jisu-myeon, Jinju City, known as the ‘cradle of the business world’ where the founders of the four major companies Samsung, LG, GS, and Hyosung grew up and interacted contemporaneously, and the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship Center as field trip and study tour sites, as well as educational training venues for elementary, middle, and high school students in the Gyeonggi region.”

Superintendent Lim said, “Last August, I visited the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship Center for the ‘2023 Gyeonggi Province-style Entrepreneurship Spirit Cultivation Teacher Training.’ Entrepreneurship education in Jinju, the birthplace of K-Entrepreneurship, was meaningful in many respects,” and added, “We will work together to activate K-Entrepreneurship education linked with the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship Center to understand the entrepreneurial spirit of founders of Korea’s global companies and to nurture future entrepreneurs equipped with a spirit of challenge, creativity, and problem-solving skills.”

Vice Chairman Kim Jong-wook emphasized, “It is urgent to educate elementary, middle, and high school students on K-Entrepreneurship for a new economic miracle in Korea,” and urged, “We ask the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education to take a leading role in the ‘K-Entrepreneurship Pilgrimage’ program, where students learn K-Entrepreneurship in Jinju, the entrepreneurial capital of Korea, and visit the birthplaces of Samsung’s Lee Byung-chul, LG’s Koo In-hwoi, GS’s Heo Man-jung, and Hyosung’s Cho Hong-je.”

Jinju City, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, and the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship Foundation agreed to mutually cooperate to share the necessity of K-Entrepreneurship education and to promote its expansion.

Jinju City opened and has been operating the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship Center since March 2022 to inherit and develop Jinju K-Entrepreneurship for future generations. Last year, the city educated about 1,400 elementary, middle, and high school students on Jinju K-Entrepreneurship. This year, it is preparing ‘Elementary, Middle, and High School Jinju K-Entrepreneurship Education’ targeting students nationwide.

If the K-Entrepreneurship expansion project jointly promoted by Jinju City and the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship Foundation is activated, it is expected to inject new vitality into Jinju tourism and greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy.

Meanwhile, in August last year, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education visited the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship Center as part of the ‘2023 Gyeonggi Province-style Entrepreneurship Spirit Cultivation’ teacher training for about 120 elementary and secondary school teachers in Gyeonggi Province, benchmarking the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship education program and center operation methods.
