Successful Bid in Third Auction After Two Failures
The aging Chungnam hospital ship 'Chungnam 501' was sold for 235 million KRW.
On the 18th, Chungnam Province announced that due to the ship's age of over 22 years, the Chungnam 501 hospital ship was decided to be sold.
Since August last year, the province conducted a public property review committee, appraisal, and bidding announcement, resulting in the Chungnam 501 being sold on the third auction this month after two failed attempts.
The appraised value was approximately 258 million KRW, but it was finally sold at a 10% reduced price of about 235 million KRW.
The province plans to proceed with payment of the sale price and transfer of ownership registration after the contract is signed.
The new Chungnam hospital ship, which replaced the aging Chungnam 501, set sail in January and provides monthly visiting medical services to 3,440 residents of 32 inhabited islands across six cities and counties.
The Chungnam hospital ship weighs 320 tons, twice the size of the Chungnam 501. It has a maximum capacity of 50 people and a maximum cruising range of 1,037 km.
The crew consists of 21 members: 3 doctors, 3 nurses, 4 medical technicians, 9 marine and fisheries personnel, 1 communications operator, and 1 cook.
A provincial official stated, "We are currently carrying out the sale procedures for the Chungnam 501," adding, "We will ensure there are no issues with payment of the sale price and transfer of ownership registration."
