Gwangyang City to Support 160 Electric Slow Chargers

Up to 500,000 KRW Support Per Vehicle

Eliminating Blind Spots for Electric Vehicle Users

Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced that it will promote a support project for the installation of non-public electric vehicle slow chargers to activate the supply of electric vehicles and improve user convenience.

Non-public (private) chargers are charging facilities intended for exclusive use by individuals at homes or workplaces. The city will support 50% of the purchase and installation costs, up to a maximum of 500,000 KRW, for about 160 wall-mounted and stand-type non-public slow chargers.

Applications will be accepted from April 8 to 19, and individuals or corporations wishing to purchase slow chargers can apply in person at the Environmental Division of Gwangyang City Hall.

Eligibility for application includes individuals who have purchased an electric vehicle (including those eligible for subsidies in 2024), have an address in Gwangyang City as of the announcement date, have secured the installation site within Gwangyang City, and have no prior record of installing chargers.

Kim Chan-kwon, head of the Climate and Environment Team, said, “Through the support project for non-public slow chargers, we aim to eliminate charging blind spots for electric vehicle users and enhance convenience by continuously expanding electric vehicle charging facilities.”

Meanwhile, Gwangyang City supported 260 non-public slow chargers with a budget of 335 million KRW by 2023 and operates about 900 public and semi-public charging facilities.
