Samyangsa Makes Mark with Specialty Food Ingredients at US Natural Food Expo

First Participation in 2024 NPEW
Introducing Allulose, Indigestible Maltodextrin, and More
Accelerating Global Food Market Expansion

Samyang Corporation announced on the 18th that it operated a promotional booth at the Natural Products Expo West (NPEW) held from the 14th to the 16th in Anaheim, California, USA, to showcase the excellence of its specialty (high-functionality) food ingredients.


NPEW is an event attended by approximately 3,000 food and beverage companies and more than 60,000 buyers from about 130 countries worldwide. Samyang participated in this expo for the first time this year to increase contact points with potential customers producing vegan, organic, and health-functional concept products.

During the event, Samyang introduced zero-calorie alternative sweetener allulose and the health-functional ingredient resistant maltodextrin, providing tasting samples such as protein bars and jellies containing each ingredient at the booth, along with brochures detailing the characteristics of each material to help visitors understand.


Allulose is an alternative sweetener that has about 70% of the sweetness of sugar. It has properties similar to fructose and is widely used in beverages, snacks, dairy products, and sauces. Samyang succeeded in mass-producing allulose in 2016 using its own developed enzyme technology and began full-scale production in 2020. In the same year, it obtained the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 'Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS)' certification and launched the brand 'Nexweet' the following year, laying the foundation for overseas market entry.


Resistant maltodextrin is a water-soluble dietary fiber containing more than 85% dietary fiber. It is used as a health-functional food ingredient that can help promote bowel movements, suppress postprandial blood sugar spikes, and improve blood triglyceride levels. Samyang launched the brand 'Fiberest' in 2021 and is promoting its prebiotic business by producing liquid and powder forms of resistant maltodextrin.
