3 Years of Manufacturing Process Digitalization, Decarbonization, Aging Infrastructure Maintenance, and Convenience Facility Expansion
Digital and Eco-friendly Transformation of Aging Industrial Complexes... Strengthening Industrial Site Competitiv
Busan City announced that Sinpyeong and Jangnim General Industrial Complexes have been designated as districts for the Competitiveness Enhancement Project of Aged Core Industrial Complexes.
2024 Old Industrial Complex Competitiveness Enhancement Project Candidate Sites: Sinpyeong and Jangnim General Industrial Complexes.
The Competitiveness Enhancement Project District for Aged Core Industrial Complexes is a region supported by the government to promote digitalization and eco-friendliness in aged core industrial complexes, aiming to improve the functions of industrial sites and achieve sustainable regional development.
The Competitiveness Enhancement Promotion Committee for Aged Core Industrial Complexes selected Sinpyeong and Jangnim General Industrial Complexes as candidate sites for the project through a public contest in April last year and proceeded with the evaluation for official designation.
Since the complexes were selected as candidate sites in April last year, the city collaborated with Saha-gu District and regional innovation institutions, and finalized the project plan after three rounds of expert consultations with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The plan envisions creating an advanced manufacturing hub where industry, environment, and people coexist to drive regional development, consisting of 19 projects aimed at ▲building a future new industry ecosystem through manufacturing innovation and smart manufacturing talent cultivation ▲establishing an eco-friendly industrial complex by achieving low-carbon green and energy self-sufficiency in the complexes ▲creating innovative spaces attractive to youth by improving aged infrastructure and expanding complex cultural and park facilities.
With this designation, Sinpyeong and Jangnim General Industrial Complexes have secured the momentum to actively implement the finalized project plan with national funding support.
Over the next three years starting this year, a total of KRW 254.6 billion (KRW 154.6 billion national funds, KRW 73.5 billion city funds, KRW 26.5 billion private funds) will be invested in 19 projects including digitalization of manufacturing processes, decarbonization, renovation of aged infrastructure, and expansion of convenience facilities.
In the first year, the city has secured KRW 14.5 billion in national funds to promote projects such as the Smart Green Industrial Complex Promotion Project and the Aged Industrial Complex Regeneration Project.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun emphasized, “Rapid response to changes in industrial structure and innovation in aged industrial complexes are urgent for the revival of stagnant industrial complexes,” adding, “Our city will do its best to ensure that Sinpyeong and Jangnim General Industrial Complexes, designated as districts for the Competitiveness Enhancement Project of Aged Core Industrial Complexes, serve as innovative hubs to strengthen industrial site competitiveness and lead the regional economy.”
