Lee Jae-myung: "Is This Country Yoon Seok-yeol's?... Now You Are Fired"

Raising the Argument for Regime Judgment in the Capital Area
"Luxury Bags? I Don't Even Want to Talk About It"
Regarding the Controversy Over Ambassador Lee Jong-seop to Australia
"What a Complete Humiliation"

Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, visited Hwaseong, Anseong, and Pyeongtaek in Gyeonggi Province on the 17th, urging support for the Democratic Party in the April 10 general election. Staying in the Seoul metropolitan area, a key battleground for two consecutive days, he focused on emphasizing the 'regime judgment theory' alongside local candidates.

At a press conference held in front of Dongtan Lake Park in Hwaseong, Lee directly targeted controversies surrounding First Lady Kim Keon-hee's Dior bag and allegations of stock price manipulation.

He said, "Luxury bags, I don't even want to talk about them. You might think, 'Is 3 million won (about $2,300) a lot of money? Why make a fuss over this?' But the people are embracing their whole families and walking the path of death because they don't have 3 million won," adding, "You say you made 2.3 billion won through stock manipulation? All accomplices are serving prison sentences, but hasn't he not even been investigated?"

Lee continued, "Is this Yoon Seok-yeol's common sense? Is this Yoon Seok-yeol's verification? Is the Republic of Korea an autocracy? It seems President Yoon wants to become a king," he criticized sharply.

Regarding the appointment and departure controversy of Ambassador to Australia Lee Jong-seop, Lee said, "How can someone who committed a serious crime and was banned from leaving the country be appointed and sent as the nation's face, an ambassador?" He added, "I heard that Australia says, 'We do not accept criminals since 1867.' What a disgrace this is."

When asked about the general election outlook, Lee replied, "Our biggest goal is to secure a total of 151 seats, but that is not easy," adding, "According to our analysis and predictions, achieving a majority is really difficult. Let's at least become the first party; we must strive to be the first party."

Regarding the verbal abuse controversies involving candidates from both ruling and opposition parties, he said, "What is real verbal abuse? Saying that Ito Hirobumi is a great talent, or that the May 18 Gwangju Uprising was a riot involving North Korean troops ? isn't that the real verbal abuse?" He directed criticism at the People Power Party figures who made such remarks.

He also said, "What kind of insults did the former ruling party direct at former President Roh Moo-hyun? That is the verbal abuse that must be held accountable," adding, "In the play Reincarnation Economy, there were filthy words that even street thugs who chew gum and tremble their legs wouldn't use. Didn't the then Grand National Party say those?"

At a press conference in front of Pyeongtaek Station Plaza, Lee blew a blue whistle he had prepared in advance, saying, "The reason I prepared this is to warn the Yoon Seok-yeol administration," adding, "The regimes of Chun Doo-hwan, Roh Tae-woo, Kim Young-sam, Lee Myung-bak, and Park Geun-hye were dictatorships, incompetent, and corrupt, but they still cared about the people's eyes. However, this administration ignores the people and treats them with contempt." He then said, "Don't you really want to mess things up? Let's mess things up completely on April 10."

He also targeted allegations of preferential treatment in the Seoul-Yangpyeong highway project, saying, "They tried to change the route toward the land where their family members own property using the people's hard-earned taxes," and asked, "Is this country Yoon Seok-yeol's? Is President Yoon a king?"

He shouted, "You have caused pain to the people with the power entrusted to you by the people, and filled your private interests with the budget entrusted by the people. Now, you are fired."

Furthermore, Lee said, "The government and ruling party are driving this society into conflict and confrontation. Do you know where this leads? Civil war," adding, "I believe the Republic of Korea is already at the beginning of a psychological civil war. How can someone wield a knife around someone's neck in broad daylight..." referring to the stabbing incident he suffered from an assailant earlier this year.
