A man in his 70s who injured a woman with a weapon after she reported illegal filming was arrested by the police.
On the 16th, the Dongdaemun Police Station in Seoul announced that they had urgently arrested a man in his 70s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of special assault and attempted murder.
According to the police, Mr. A is accused of injuring a woman in her 60s, who is an acquaintance, with a weapon on a street in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, in the early morning, and then fleeing the scene (retaliatory injury under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes).
The victim sustained injuries to her face but is reported to be in a stable condition with no life-threatening injuries.
The police analyzed the victim’s testimony and nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and apprehended Mr. A around noon in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. It is reported that Mr. A committed the crime after the victim reported the illegal filming and he went to her residence area.
The police are currently investigating Mr. A to determine the specific motive behind the crime.
