Medical, Financial, Entrepreneurial, and Legal Sectors, Among Others
The People Power Party's Nomination Management Committee (NMC) has announced five district candidates selected through the national recommendation system.
On the 15th, the NMC held its 23rd meeting at the Yeouido Central Party Office and selected Seo Myeong-ok, President of the Korea Public Organization Bank, for Seoul Gangnam-gu Gap through the national recommendation system. The NMC stated, "President Seo has continuously worked to promote public health in the public medical field, including serving as the head of the Gangnam-gu Health Center," and added, "Given that aging is emerging as a social issue, we judged that she is a competent healthcare expert capable of designing and implementing advanced systems."
For Seoul Gangnam-gu Eul, Park Soo-min, former director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), was selected. Former Director Park is known as an economic expert who worked as a senior secretary overseeing the Planning and Budget Office's research and development (R&D) budget and has been actively involved as an entrepreneur and investor. The NMC explained, "We judged former Director Park to be a talented individual who can contribute to securing regional economic growth and national growth engines."
Choi Eun-seok, former CEO of CJ CheilJedang, was nominated for Daegu Dong-gu Gunwi-gun Gap. It was explained that he was recommended as a professional talent who can promote regional economic revitalization and national development with his experience and expertise in managing a global company.
For Daegu Buk-gu Gap, lawyer Woo Jae-jun was selected. Lawyer Woo has served as a member of the Daegu Metropolitan City Audit Committee. The NMC said, "We expect him to take the lead in presenting new policy alternatives from the perspective of youth and act as a bridge connecting the older and future generations."
Kim Sang-wook, born in 1980, a lawyer, was nominated for Ulsan Nam-gu Gap. He has served as a long-term advisory lawyer for Ulsan Nam-gu Office and is highly regarded for his understanding of local issues.
The NMC discussed applicants for the national recommendation project, who applied from the 8th to the 9th, through document and interview evaluations. This was in response to criticism that the proportion of youth and women was low in the nominations for the April 10 general election.
The national recommendation project, meaning "Members of the National Assembly recommended by the people," involved over 180 citizens who participated either by applying directly or through third-party recommendations. The NMC stated, "We conducted evaluations based on objective criteria such as morality, social contribution, and regional suitability."
