Changwon Special City Encourages the Efforts of Masan Medical Center Staff Protecting Patients

On-site Inspection of Emergency Medical Response System for Physician Collective Action

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced that Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, Governor Park Wan-su of Gyeongsangnam-do, and Mayor Hong Nam-pyo of Changwon Special City visited Masan Medical Center on the 15th.


The visit was to inspect the operation status of the emergency medical system in response to the doctors' collective action and to encourage the medical staff treating patients on the front lines.


Since the collective departure of residents, Masan Medical Center has expanded emergency medical personnel and is focusing all efforts on treating severe and emergency patients while securing emergency room medical staff in preparation for a prolonged situation.

Kim Jin-pyeong, Director of Masan Medical Center in Gyeongsangnam-do, explained ▲24-hour emergency room operation ▲measures for transferring emergency patients to appropriate medical institutions ▲countermeasures against patient concentration.


Director Kim said, “We are maintaining the emergency medical system without any gaps in cooperation with Changwon City Masan Health Center, Masan Medical Center officials, and local governments.”


Prime Minister Han Duck-soo encouraged the medical staff, saying, “At a time when medical disruptions are becoming a reality due to the doctors' collective action, I thank the dedication and hard work of the medical center officials who are protecting the lives and health of local residents.”


He added, “Through medical reform, we will establish a regionally complete medical system for citizens.”


The city stated that it will use all means and methods to support the emergency medical system so that it operates smoothly on the ground.
