The PGA Tour announced on the 14th (local time) that "Kim Joo-hyung withdrew from the first round of The Players Championship held at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, after playing 8 holes." They added, "The reason for withdrawal was due to illness."

Paul Tessori, Kim Joo-hyung's caddie, and his wife Michelle posted on social media that "Kim Joo-hyung's body temperature measured before his tee time exceeded 102 degrees Fahrenheit (38.8 degrees Celsius)." Starting at the 10th hole (par 4), Kim recorded two bogeys and one triple bogey over 8 holes. At 21 years old, Kim is a 'young gun' who has already won three PGA Tour events. This year, he has made the cut six times in seven tournaments.
