Yeongdeungpo-gu Supports Pregnant Women with '4 Hygiene Product Kits' Including Antibacterial Foam Hand Soap

Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will provide a hygiene kit consisting of four items to pregnant women in the area to help manage their health.

To support pregnant women whose physical health weakens due to hormonal imbalance and weakened immunity during pregnancy, a four-item kit including antibacterial foam hand soap (container and refill), gum toothpaste, and a toothbrush will be provided to assist in maintaining their health and hygiene.

The support targets pregnant women registered at the Yeongdeungpo-gu Public Health Center. They can apply by visiting the Maternal and Child Health Office (1st floor) of the district health center with their ID and a pregnancy confirmation certificate or maternal handbook. When applying in person, spouses or immediate family members can also receive the kit on behalf of the pregnant woman, but they must bring the mother’s ID, resident registration certificate, and the proxy’s ID.

Additionally, pregnant women who receive folic acid and iron supplements via delivery through the government’s “Mom Comfortable Pregnancy” one-stop service on Government24 can also receive the four-item hygiene kit together.

Notably, the packaging box of this kit features drawings personally created by seniors participating in the senior job creation project, along with a warm message saying, “Congratulations on becoming a mother, our granddaughter more precious than flowers,” adding an emotional touch.

The four-item hygiene kit for pregnant women was produced through an agreement between Seoul City, Lion Korea, and the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest, and will be supported for the next five years (until 2028).

In addition, the district is conducting various projects to support the health management of pregnant women, including ▲basic blood tests for pregnant women ▲fetal anomaly screening ▲gestational diabetes screening ▲distribution of folic acid supplements ▲supply of iron supplements.

Moreover, for men and women planning to conceive healthy children, a pre-pregnancy health management program offers free screenings such as ▲anemia and blood tests ▲sexually transmitted infection tests ▲hepatitis B tests.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “During pregnancy, the health management of the mother is the most important period.” He added, “We will do our best to create an environment where both mothers and children can live happily by discovering new projects related to childbirth and childcare in the future.”
