Gangdong-gu, 8 New Public Childcare Centers to Open in 2024

Kangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced on the 14th that it will open a total of 16 new public national and public daycare centers by 2025, including 8 locations in 2024, to expand public childcare infrastructure.

On March 4th of this year, the public national daycare center "Gurip Punggyeongchae Daycare Center" opened in Block 1 of the Godeok Gangil Public Housing District (Godeok Punggyeongchae Urbanity). With a capacity of 65 children, it is equipped with childcare rooms, playrooms, and teacher rooms to care for infants and toddlers from 0 to 5 years old.

The district signed a free lease agreement with the construction company in January to ensure that the newly opened daycare centers provide a safe and comfortable childcare environment, supporting facility remodeling and teaching materials expenses.

Starting with this, 8 centers will be established this year and an additional 8 centers in 2025. The district plans to operate a total of 104 national and public daycare centers by 2025, aiming to achieve a utilization rate of over 52% for public daycare centers.

Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Kangdong-gu, said, "We will continue to strive to expand public childcare infrastructure such as national and public daycare centers to meet the diverse needs of residents and provide high-quality customized childcare services," adding, "We will work hard to create a childcare environment where parents can entrust their children with peace of mind."
