Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it will promote the 'Gyerim 1-dong Urban Regeneration New Deal Resident Proposal Contest Project' to encourage active participation of residents and establish a foundation for sustainable urban regeneration projects through revitalization of the local community.
The participants are groups or organizations of five or more people interested in the Gyerim 1-dong urban regeneration project, and must include at least three residents registered in Gyerim 1-dong.
The contest fields are divided into 'Planning Contest,' which focuses on hardware for small-scale living environment improvements, and 'General Contest,' which centers on program projects for revitalizing the local community. All projects must be suitable for urban regeneration activation.
Information related to the contest project can be found on the Dong-gu Office website or at the Gyerim 1-dong Urban Regeneration Field Support Center. The application period is from the 21st to the 28th of this month. Applicants can submit the required forms by visiting the center or via email.
Submitted projects will undergo a first round of document screening and a second round of interviews to finalize the participants. Selected groups will receive up to 10 million KRW per team, and the project period will last until the end of October after selection.
Im Taek, the head of Dong-gu Office, said, "Visible results have appeared throughout Dong-gu through previous resident proposal contests," adding, "We will do our best to contribute to community revitalization and capacity building by enabling residents to directly plan, propose, and execute projects needed in their villages, thereby contributing to sustainable urban regeneration activation."
Meanwhile, the 'Gyerim 1-dong Urban Regeneration New Deal Resident Proposal Contest Project,' which started last year, has successfully promoted five projects: ▲Our Village Craft Pride (training instructors for craft and horticulture-related experiences) ▲Deongdeokkungdeok Gyeongyang Arirang (production of senior citizen musical plays) ▲Masilgil Sparrow Mill (festival food development and sharing) ▲Community Program with Flowers (healing horticulture and village beautification) ▲Blue Ant Gyeongyang Masilgil Festival (village festival performance program).
