Token Securities Investment Possible via MTS
Upon System Introduction and Innovative Financial Service Approval
On the 14th, Eugene Investment & Securities announced that it has completed the establishment of a 'Token Securities Issuance (STO) Platform' to promote its token securities business.
Eugene Investment & Securities began building the token securities issuance platform in June of last year and has completed actual implementation testing. Unlike previous cases where token securities platforms were built only at the proof of concept (PoC) level, this platform integrates blockchain-based token securities operations such as subscription, dividends, and liquidation of token securities products through the Mobile Trading Service (MTS) with the current securities company business system, which is significant.
With this platform, once related laws and regulations are introduced or if Eugene Investment & Securities receives approval as an innovative financial service for token securities businesses in which it participates as an issuer, token securities investment will become immediately possible through Eugene Investment & Securities’ MTS, 'Smart Champion.'
Customers wishing to invest in token securities can open accounts non-face-to-face and apply for STO services via MTS, then select the token securities products they want to invest in and apply for subscription. Investors can use basic services such as balance inquiry and dividend receipt on the MTS. They can also participate in beneficiary general meetings online through the electronic voting function. Currently, token securities are classified into investment contract securities and non-monetary trust beneficiary securities; the part developed by Eugene Investment & Securities this time is for non-monetary trust beneficiary securities, with plans to additionally expand investment contract securities in the future.
Since the Financial Services Commission’s announcement of the 'Token Securities Issuance and Distribution Regulatory System Improvement Plan' in February last year, Eugene Investment & Securities has focused on the growth potential of the token securities market by establishing a dedicated STO organization and hiring related experts to prepare for early market entry.
In June last year, it began building the token securities issuance platform with blockchain specialist company 'Lambda256.' Along with this, it showed rapid progress by signing business agreements with multiple fractional investment operators. It is participating as a trust and account management institution in applying for innovative financial services for token securities businesses involving various assets such as aviation finance, wind power generation, and accounts receivable.
Going forward, Eugene Investment & Securities plans to accelerate the creation of a token securities business ecosystem based on the established platform. It will actively collaborate by supporting issuance for businesses that own safe and attractive underlying assets but find it difficult to build their own issuance platforms. Utilizing the know-how developed proactively, the platform will continue to be upgraded in line with the introduction of related laws and regulations in the future.
Song Kyung-jae, Head of Strategic Planning at Eugene Investment & Securities, said, “Even if one does not have a high understanding of STO or a separate token securities platform, if they have safe and attractive items, they can start a token securities business through Eugene Investment & Securities’ platform without the burden of infrastructure construction costs.” He added, “Going forward, Eugene Investment & Securities will provide a ‘seamless’ customer experience from token securities reporting and issuance to linkage with the KRX New Securities Market and over-the-counter trading brokerage.”
