Identification and Connection of High-Risk Elderly Groups for Depression and Suicide
The Sancheong County Mental Health Welfare Center in Gyeongnam announced on the 14th that it has signed a business agreement with the Jinju Sancheong branch of the National Health Insurance Service.
According to the Sancheong County Mental Health Welfare Center on the 14th, there is empirical evidence that social attention is needed for elderly suicide due to depression caused by the death of a spouse, health deterioration, social isolation, and other factors.

Accordingly, through this agreement, the two organizations plan to collaborate on identifying high-risk groups for elderly depression and suicide. The Jinju Sancheong branch of the National Health Insurance Service will actively identify high-risk long-term care recipients experiencing depression or suicidal impulses and encourage early intervention by the Sancheong County Mental Health Welfare Center.
The Sancheong County Mental Health Welfare Center provides mental health services such as in-depth psychological counseling, case management, and mental health programs through psychiatric specialized nurses and contracted psychiatrists.
An official from the County Health and Medical Center stated, “We will make further efforts to prevent suicide through early detection and intervention for high-risk mental health groups in the community.”
Meanwhile, the County Mental Health Welfare Center operates a Mind Health Counseling Center that provides psychological counseling support to residents on an ongoing basis.
