Passenger Cars Supported Up to 14.4 Million KRW, Electric Cargo Vehicles Supported Up to 20.56 Million KRW
Jeonnam Sinan-gun is taking the lead in realizing carbon neutrality by 2050 and plans to distribute a total of 334 electric vehicles?192 electric passenger cars and 142 electric cargo trucks?to the private sector in two phases, first and second half of the year.
According to the county on the 14th, eligible recipients are individuals aged 18 or older who have had an address in the county for more than three months prior to the application date, as well as companies, corporations, and public institutions with business sites in the county, who intend to purchase and newly register electric vehicles.
Support for electric passenger cars is up to 14.4 million KRW, and for electric cargo trucks up to 20.56 million KRW. Additional national subsidies include: 2.5 million KRW for purchasing electric taxis; 20% of the national subsidy amount for electric passenger cars purchased by households below the second-lowest income bracket; 30% of the national subsidy amount for electric cargo trucks purchased by households below the second-lowest income bracket and small business owners; and an additional 500,000 KRW for purchasing ultra-small electric passenger cars or cargo trucks for the purpose of promoting regional hub projects.
Starting this year, buyers of electric cargo trucks who own diesel cargo trucks and scrap them will receive an additional 500,000 KRW in national subsidies.
Additionally, since last year, Sinan-gun has been implementing a plan to convert all diesel vehicles on small islands (Nakdo) to zero-emission vehicles. Under this plan, when scrapping a diesel vehicle and purchasing an electric vehicle, an additional 4 million KRW per vehicle is supported, and 2 million KRW per vehicle is provided for new electric vehicle purchases. Since 2020, Sinan-gun has also signed a business agreement with Gwangju Bank to promote the distribution of environmentally friendly electric vehicles, offering interest support on loans (up to 30 million KRW) to residents purchasing electric vehicles, thereby reducing the financial burden of purchasing electric vehicles.
Detailed information on the number of vehicles distributed by type and subsidy support can be found through the Zero-Emission Vehicle Purchase Subsidy Support System. Those wishing to purchase should conclude a purchase contract at a manufacturer or dealer and then apply through the dealer via the Zero-Emission Vehicle Purchase Subsidy Support System.
A county official stated, “We will strive to create a comfortable Sinan-gun free of fine dust by promoting the transition from internal combustion engine vehicles to zero-emission vehicles. We plan to continuously promote projects necessary for carbon neutrality, including expanding electric vehicle charging infrastructure and establishing hydrogen charging stations. Through these efforts, Sinan-gun, registered as a World Natural Heritage site for its Korean tidal flats, will proactively respond to the government’s Green New Deal and carbon neutrality policies.”
