To Medical Staff Asking About Medication, "I Did Drugs"
Police Also Detain Chinese National Who Used Drugs Together
A Chinese man who was rescued by a citizen while attempting suicide was urgently arrested after confessing to drug use while receiving treatment in the emergency room. Amid the current shortage of emergency room doctors due to the medical crisis, concerns are rising that urgent patients in need of treatment may have been adversely affected by drug offenders.
On the 13th, the Guro Police Station in Seoul announced that they had urgently arrested a Chinese national, Mr. A (in his 30s), on the 8th at an emergency room of a hospital located in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
On the same day, Mr. A was found and rescued by an apartment management office staff member while attempting suicide at an apartment in Guro-gu. After being transported to the hospital, when medical staff asked if he was taking any medication, he responded with slang referring to methamphetamine, and upon further questioning by the police, he eventually admitted to drug use.
According to the police investigation, Mr. A stated that he had used methamphetamine at the home of Mr. B, a resident of Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, three days earlier on the 5th. A rapid drug test conducted at the hospital also showed a positive result for methamphetamine.
Accordingly, the police have also booked Mr. B, a Chinese national who used drugs together with Mr. A, on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. The police are currently investigating the detailed circumstances of the case, including the source of the drugs for these individuals.

Mr. C fled upon seeing the police but was eventually found hiding in a daycare center and was arrested. This behavior occurred while he was in a hallucinatory state after drug use, and a rapid drug test also showed a positive result. Furthermore, it was confirmed that Mr. C was in the country illegally, which sparked public outrage.
