The Property Insurance Industry Donates '10 Hope Houses' for Neighbors Affected by Disasters

The General Insurance Social Contribution Council announced on the 13th that it held a 'Hope House Production Commemoration Ceremony' for temporary housing facilities for disaster victims in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association.

The General Insurance Social Contribution Council is a consultative body aimed at practicing the social responsibility of general insurance companies and revitalizing social contribution activities. It is composed of CEOs from 19 general insurance companies.

Last April, the general insurance industry signed a social contribution agreement with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Korea Disaster Relief Association for public-private cooperation in disaster relief. The 10 Hope Houses produced this time have been stocked at the Korea Disaster Relief Association's logistics center. They are planned to be delivered to disaster victims who have lost their homes due to disasters such as wildfires or heavy rains.

The Social Contribution Council plans to produce and donate an additional 16 Hope Houses within this year.

Lee Byeong-rae, chairman of the General Insurance Social Contribution Council, said, "We hope this donation will help disaster victims return to their daily lives when disasters occur," adding, "The general insurance industry will continue to care for socially vulnerable groups affected by disasters and practice the value of sharing."
