On the 12th, District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho Visits High-Risk Facilities... Focused Inspection of Construction Sites and Steep Slopes
Repeated Emphasis on Thorough Safety Management... Carefully Checking for Cracks and Subsidence on Slopes
Joint Public-Private Inspections Conducted Until the 20th, Proactively Preventing Risks at 69 Vulnerable Facilities
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is conducting a joint public-private inspection of 69 vulnerable facilities to prevent safety accidents during the thawing season.
When the moisture frozen underground during winter melts, the ground weakens, increasing the risk of accidents. Accordingly, the district has started focused inspections on safety-vulnerable facilities such as construction sites, retaining walls, and old houses.
District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho personally conducted an on-site inspection on the 12th. He visited five high-risk sites, including construction sites and steep slopes, to check for any abnormalities and urged stricter safety management of the facilities.
The first inspection site was the new youth housing construction site in Junggok-dong. Special attention was paid to accident-prone areas such as excavation and earth retaining, and it was confirmed that there was no damage to adjacent buildings. At the construction site for the Hongryeonbong Fortress Ruins Protection Facility in Guui-dong, the construction status and management of temporary structures were thoroughly inspected.
Among the steep slopes, the area around Yonggok Middle School and Jeongnip Hall was visited. Cracks and subsidence on the slopes were checked to prevent rockfalls and collapses. Additionally, at Jayang General Market, designated as a Type 3 facility under the Facility Safety Act, the aging condition of the building was examined, and all measures to prevent accidents were strictly enforced.
The thawing season safety inspection will continue until the 20th of this month. Minor issues will be addressed immediately during site visits with private experts, and serious defects will be promptly reinforced.
In particular, the district plans to fill safety blind spots thoroughly through the ‘Dong Area Responsibility System,’ which resolves local issues led by the neighborhood community centers.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “Since disaster prevention is most important, we are putting all our efforts into safety inspections during the thawing season,” adding, “We will always maintain a proactive preparedness posture to protect the lives and property of residents under any circumstances.”
