The Gyeonggi-do Marine Fisheries Resources Research Institute will operate a free mobile repair service targeting islands where it is difficult to repair fishing equipment and fishing villages with poor transportation access.
On the 13th, the Marine Fisheries Resources Research Institute announced that it plans to dispatch professional repair company staff to the site to inspect and repair fishing vessel engines and fishing equipment free of charge, and support the cost of small-scale parts replacement.
The repair targets cover three areas: electrical, communication, and engine, including battery, propeller, oil filter replacement, and GPS communication checks.
The support targets include seven fishing cooperatives such as Gukhwado and Pungdo, with a total of 104 fishing vessels included this year.
The Marine Fisheries Resources Research Institute supports parts replacement costs up to 200,000 KRW twice per person annually. However, support cannot exceed 100,000 KRW per instance. If the amount exceeds this, the user must bear the cost.
Kim Seong-gon, director of the Marine Fisheries Resources Research Institute, said, "We hope that the operation of the mobile repair service will enable safe fishing activities for fishermen in islands and remote areas," and added, "We will strive to expand the project so that more fishermen in Gyeonggi-do can receive support."
