'오구 그레서' Corner Popularity
Everland, operated by Samsung C&T Resort Division, announced on the 12th that the cumulative views of its popular corner "Ogu Greseo" on its official SNS channels have surpassed 4 million.
"Ogu Greseo" means "Ogu Ogu our Lesser Panda" and is a corner that shows the daily life of the lesser panda, another family member of Panda World. Currently, 11 videos have been uploaded, and the corner will celebrate its 1st anniversary on the 15th.
At Everland, there are three lesser pandas: Resi (born in 2014), Lemon (born in 2013), and Rea (born in 2019).
The lesser panda is an endangered species (CITES Appendix I) with fewer than 10,000 left worldwide and is known to be difficult to breed. Like the giant panda, its fertile period occurs only once or twice a year for 1 to 3 days. Typically, mating happens between February and March, with births occurring between June and July. Due to delayed implantation and false pregnancies, it is difficult to confirm pregnancy until just before birth. So far, there has been no successful breeding of lesser pandas in Korea. Everland paired Rea, who has a similar personality to Resi, earlier this year and created an environment to help them bond.
"Ogu Greseo" has gained popularity by showing not only explanations of the lesser panda’s ecology and individual characteristics but also their adorable appearances.
To celebrate the 1st anniversary of the "Ogu Greseo" corner, Everland will hold a thank-you comment event through a video to be released next week. Those who write comments about "the cute points of the lesser panda family that I think of" will be entered into a draw to receive lesser panda merchandise as a gift.
Sehyun Lee, the caretaker in charge of the lesser pandas, said, "We will do our best to ensure that the endangered lesser pandas live safely and healthily," adding, "Through 'Ogu Greseo,' we hope many people will take an interest in lesser pandas and recognize the importance of wildlife conservation."
