President Yoon Suk-yeol met with Sarah Sanders, Governor of Arkansas, USA, on the 11th and urged, "Just as the Korea-US alliance, which celebrated its 70th anniversary last year, is evolving into a 'global comprehensive strategic alliance,' I hope the cooperation between Korea and Arkansas will deepen in various fields."

On the afternoon of the same day, President Yoon received Governor Sanders at the Yongsan Presidential Office and exchanged views on strengthening the Korea-US alliance, enhancing cooperation between Korea and Arkansas, and supporting the Korean community, the presidential office reported.

First, President Yoon evaluated, "Arkansas, known as the hometown of General MacArthur who led the miraculous 'Incheon Landing Operation' during the Korean War, has a special connection with Korea."

He also said, "Governor Sanders has shown outstanding leadership as the first female governor in history," and requested, "I hope you will play an important role in the development of the Korea-US alliance and Korea-Arkansas relations during this visit to Korea."

Governor Sanders responded, "I highly appreciate the recent development of the Korea-US alliance, and through this visit, I had very productive discussions visiting leading Korean companies to further expand cooperation between Korea and Arkansas," adding, "Arkansas has high potential for lithium development. I hope many Korean companies will enter Arkansas, which has a pro-business environment."

President Yoon also said, "The Korean community in Arkansas, numbering about 6,500 people, is a model community contributing to the development of the local community and plays an important role in strengthening friendship and ties between the two countries," and requested, "I hope the state government will show special interest and support for the Korean community."

Governor Sanders replied, "The Korean community, a proud member of Arkansas, has served as an excellent bridge connecting Korea and Arkansas," and added, "I will continue to work for the enhancement of rights and development of the Korean community."
