Dongmyeong University Newly Established K-sports Taekwondo Department Wins First Medal Since Inception

3rd Place in University Division Poomsae Pair Event at the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family National Taekwondo Championship

Dongmyung University (President Jeon Ho-hwan) announced that freshmen athletes Kwon Do-young, Kim Hye-won, and Cha Yoo-jin from the K-sports Taekwondo Department won 3rd place (bronze medal) in the university division Poomsae pair competition at the 23rd Ministry of Gender Equality and Family National Taekwondo Tournament held at Samcheok Gymnasium in Samcheok-si, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, until March 10.

This is the first national competition medal for the newly established K-sports Taekwondo Department of Dongmyung University in 2024, which emphasizes ‘Chedeokji’ (physical virtue and wisdom) rather than ‘Jideokche’ and focuses on nurturing Do-ing talents through challenge, experience, and practice.

Won Hyeong-jin, head of the K-sports Taekwondo Department, said, “The prospective freshmen improved their skills through intensive training during the vacation period and achieved good results,” adding, “Especially in Poomsae, the score difference between 1st and 3rd place is not large, so the bronze medal holds great significance.”
