The New Future Nomination Management Committee announced on the 11th that it has nominated Lee Nak-yeon and Kim Jong-min as co-representatives for Gwangju Gwangsan-eul and Sejong Gap, respectively.
Jo Gi-suk, chairperson of the New Future Nomination Management Committee, announced the results of the first round of nomination screening on the same day.
Specifically, Nam Pyeong-o, former Chief of Staff for Civil Affairs at the Prime Minister's Office, was nominated for Seoul Gangseo-gap; Yoo Seung-hee, former member of the National Assembly, for Seoul Seongbuk-gap; Jang Deok-cheon, former mayor of Bucheon, for Gyeonggi Bucheon-byeong; Choi Seong, former mayor of Goyang, for Gyeonggi Goyang-eul; and Lee Geun-gyu, former mayor of Jecheon, for Chungbuk Jecheon-Danyang.
For Gwangju Buk-eul, Park Byeong-seok, former aide to a member of the National Assembly, was nominated; for Ulsan Nam-gap, Lee Mi-young, former Ulsan Nam-gu council member; for Jeonbuk Jeonju-gap, Shin Won-sik, former Jeollabuk-do Deputy Governor for Political Affairs; for Jeonbuk Namwon-Jangsu-Imsil-Sunchang, Han Ki-dae, former executive director at Korea Investment & Securities; and for Chungnam Asan-gap, Jo Deok-ho, former political aide to the Chungnam governor, were nominated.
The New Future party decided to nominate Jo Jong-mook, former first Commissioner of the Fire Agency, as a strategic proportional representation candidate.
Chairperson Jo said, "The reason for a nation's existence is to protect the lives of its citizens and keep them safe," adding, "During his tenure, former Commissioner Jo swiftly and impressively extinguished the wildfires in Gangwon Province without any casualties."
The New Future party plans to receive applications for proportional representation candidates until the 13th, then select candidates by combining evaluations from the Nomination Committee, citizen juries, and party members.
Meanwhile, the party launched the election countermeasures committee for the April 10 general election and began full-scale election preparations. The standing election committee chairpersons will be Kim Jong-min and Hong Young-pyo, and the co-chairpersons will be Park Young-soon, Park Won-seok, Kim Young-seon, Shin Kyung-min, and Yang So-young as responsible committee members. Lee Nak-yeon will serve as the standing advisor.
