Naval 3rd Fleet Gyeongnam Ship Crew Members Engage in Neighborly Love Volunteer Activities

Visiting Jinseo West Senior Welfare Center for Meal Distribution and More

Soldiers of the Gyeongnamham from the 32nd Combat Squadron of the Republic of Korea Navy's 3rd Fleet Command (hereinafter 3rd Fleet) visited the Jinhae Western Senior Welfare Center located in Jinhae-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam, on the 11th to carry out volunteer activities and share warm affection with their neighbors.

Naval personnel from the 3rd Fleet are volunteering in meal service.

Since last year, Gyeongnamham has established a relationship with the Jinhae Western Senior Welfare Center, visiting the facility four times to support meal distribution and surrounding environment maintenance for the elderly. The Jinhae Western Senior Welfare Center provides affordable and satisfying lunches to seniors on weekdays, continuing meal support for vulnerable groups.

On this day, about 10 soldiers from Gyeongnamham served warm lunches to approximately 300 elderly visitors at the Jinhae Western Senior Welfare Center and tidied up the dining hall, kitchen, and surrounding facilities, bringing a warm spring atmosphere to Jinhae, where the cold wind has not yet fully passed, setting an example for the local community through their volunteer work.

Jo Young-soon, director of the Jinhae Western Senior Welfare Center, said, “We are very grateful to the soldiers of Gyeongnamham who visit here to practice neighborly love despite their busy schedules,” adding, “Every time the navy soldiers serve meals to the seniors who visit here, we often see the seniors looking very pleased, which warms our hearts even more.”

Sergeant Shin Jae-hong, who participated in the volunteer work, said, “Although I cannot visit the facility often, I feel a great sense of fulfillment every time I see the people who welcome our soldiers,” and added, “I will continue to care for those in need and strive even harder as a navy serving the people together with the local community.”
