Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 11th that all three projects it applied for in the city-led '2024 Regional and Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project' competition were selected, securing 260 million KRW in city funds.
This project supports discovering businesses suited to local conditions by utilizing various human and material resources, creating quality jobs, and improving employment issues.
Gwangsan-gu was selected for three projects: ▲ Future Car Transition Workforce Training Project ▲ Digital Health Care and 3D Biomedical Industry Convergence Workforce Training Project ▲ Smart YouTuber Information-Based (Platform) Job Creation Project.
In response to the designation of the Gwangju Future Car National Industrial Complex and the specialized SOBOJANG (Materials, Parts, and Equipment) Complex, Honam University and Honam Vocational Training College formed a consortium to operate retraining for current workers and new training for specialized technical skills.
To ensure that this training is linked to actual employment, when trainees are employed by related companies, the companies will receive on-site training subsidies, and job seekers will be supported with employment retention funds.
In cooperation with the Gwangju Automobile Inspection and Maintenance Business Association and the Automobile Specialized Maintenance Business Association, the plan is to provide on-site training locations after course completion and to introduce maintenance companies to participants to enhance employment linkage effects.
The Digital Health Care and 3D Biomedical Industry Convergence Workforce Training Project aims to promote the development of the regional medical industry through digital transformation in the medical field and the training of highly skilled smart convergence technicians, and will be conducted by the Health University.
The ‘Smart YouTuber Information-Based (Platform) Job Creation Project’ is a project by the nonprofit organization ‘50+ Senior Welfare Research Institute’ that uses online social media to establish new entrepreneurship models such as ‘professional YouTubers’ and ‘bloggers,’ and plans to develop programs to allow various social groups to benefit from entrepreneurship support.
Park Byung-gyu, Mayor of Gwangsan-gu, stated, “Through the Regional and Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project, Gwangsan-gu will become a hub for nurturing specialized talent to lead future industries,” and added, “We will drive Gwangju’s development and vitality through the creation of new jobs in response to industrial structural changes.”
