Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang District, has taken steps to create a safe commuting environment for children.
Mayor Ryu will conduct safety facility inspections and commuting safety guidance at four local elementary schools to mark the new semester. Starting from the 8th, he plans to visit the schools during school hours for three weeks to carry out focused inspections of the commuting route facilities.
On the morning of the 8th, Mayor Ryu visited Sinnnae Elementary School and carefully checked the installation and maintenance status of traffic safety facilities such as sidewalks, protective fences, and road markings in the school zone together with the principal and parents. He also personally guided children at the crosswalk in front of the school to ensure their safe journey to school.
The commuting route inspections will continue at Saesol Elementary School on the 11th, Wonmuk Elementary School on the 15th, and Myeonil Elementary School on the 25th.
In addition, the district conducts maintenance checks and safety diagnostics of traffic safety facilities in school zones every year before the start of the semester.
Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi said, “I will pay even closer attention and conduct thorough inspections to ensure that the commuting routes children use every day are the safest possible paths.”
