[Harumanbo Harucheonja] Spring Approaches, Wake Your Winter-Dormant Body with Walking

Various Events to Fully Enjoy Spring

Spring has arrived swiftly as the frogs wake from their slumber with ‘Gyeongchip’ (the day when frogs awaken). Spring flowers on the streets have begun to bloom. As the spring atmosphere becomes more palpable, a variety of events where you can enjoy spring by walking and running are being prepared.

Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, will hold the ‘2024 Eunpyeong Bulgwangcheon Cherry Blossom Marathon’ on the 31st along the Bulgwangcheon stream, a famous cherry blossom spot. Following last year, it will be held in conjunction with the Bulgwangcheon Cherry Blossom Festival ‘Spring of Eunpyeong’. A total of 800 participants will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis until 6 PM on the 18th.

There are two marathon courses: the 10 km course starts from Bulgwangcheon Media Center, passes the Hongjecheon intersection, turns back near Seongsan 1-gyo Bridge, and the 5 km course starts from Bulgwangcheon Media Center and turns back at Jeungsan 3-gyo Bridge. Participants must gather by 8 AM on the day for warm-up exercises and the opening ceremony, and the 10 km course will start at 9 AM. Participants will receive a small completion souvenir.

There is another event where you can run along the Han River in Seoul. On the 23rd, Urban Sports will hold ‘2024 Spring Walk Seoul’ at Jamsil Hangang Park. To let participants feel the spring of the Han River, two courses, Level Up (19 km) and Warm Up (9 km), are prepared so that even beginners can easily enjoy them. Participants will receive a small souvenir.

The Level Up course starts at the Jamsil Track Stadium, allowing participants to enjoy the beauty of spring while viewing various flowers, passing through Gwangjin Bridge, and returning to the starting point at Gangdong Bridge. The Warm Up course is also a loop course that passes through the Ecological Park, turns back at Gwangjin Bridge, and returns to the starting point.

On the 7th of next month, the ‘2024 Seoul Spring Flower Race’ will also take place, running along cherry blossom paths. Hosted by the Korea Sports for All Federation Marathon Association, participants will be recruited until the 24th. The courses are divided into 10 km and 5 km, certified by the Korea Association of Athletics Federations. The 10 km course starts from the athletics track under Sinjeonggyo Bridge in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, and goes back and forth near the confluence of the Han River and Anyangcheon. The 5 km course starts from the athletics track under Sinjeonggyo Bridge and goes back and forth near Mokdonggyo Bridge on Anyangcheon.

Participants in the 10 km course will use timing chips to receive mobile certificates of record. Participants will receive small prizes, and trophies along with additional awards will be given to the top 3 finishers in the 10 km course.
