AD Technology's stock price has recently continued its strong upward trend. The news that orders are increasing as artificial intelligence (AI) became a hot topic last year and generative AI such as ChatGPT was commercialized appears to be influencing the stock price. AD Technology has set a goal to achieve 1 trillion won in sales by 2030. Samsung Electronics' introduction of Gate-All-Around (GAA) technology in the 3-nanometer process for the first time in the world has brought attention to AD Technology's technological capabilities. TSMC is still using the FinFET process, which is inferior to GAA.
At 10:13 a.m. on the 8th, AD Technology was trading at 49,850 won, up 15.93% from the previous day.
Lee Ji-sook, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of design house AD Technology, recently said in an interview with a media outlet, "We will make this year a 'year of quantum jump,'" adding, "The high-performance computing (HPC) system-on-chip (SoC) products for servers ordered last year will enter mass production this year and contribute to sales."
She continued, "We also expect to achieve the milestone of entering the U.S. market for the first time," and said, "We anticipate more new overseas orders this year compared to last year." Although they had previously signed contracts with European fabless semiconductor companies, they had no track record in the U.S. market.
AD Technology is focusing on securing orders for automotive zonal controller products in the U.S. and Europe this year. Lee said, "We will also proceed with the 2-nanometer (nm, 1 nm equals one billionth of a meter) project this year."
Last year, AD Technology became a Total Design Program partner of Arm, one of the world's largest semiconductor intellectual property (IP) companies. By joining the ecosystem based on Arm-led Neoverse Computing Subsystem (CSS), they have been able to build a platform that enables shortening the development period and reducing costs for high-performance SoCs. In line with Samsung Electronics Foundry's roadmap to enter 2-nanometer mass production, they are preparing to secure 2-nanometer project orders. Last year, they achieved the milestone of being the first Design Solution Partner (DSP) to win a Samsung Electronics Foundry 3-nanometer design project. Lee introduced, "We provided customers with designs applying 3-nanometer GAA and implementing 2.5-dimensional (2.5D) packaging."
Samsung Electronics' Foundry division recently partnered with Arm to strengthen cooperation in optimizing next-generation SoC IP for Samsung's cutting-edge GAA process. Samsung Electronics introduced GAA technology in the 3-nanometer process for the first time in the world in 2022. Samsung Electronics stated, "We are actively developing 3-nanometer and 2-nanometer GAA technologies."
