On the 31st, Eunpyeong Bulgwangcheon Cherry Blossom Marathon to be Held by Bulgwangcheon Stream
Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it will hold the "2024 Eunpyeong Bulgwangcheon Cherry Blossom Marathon" on the 31st along the Bulgwangcheon Stream, a famous cherry blossom spot.
Following last year, the event will be held in conjunction with the Bulgwangcheon Cherry Blossom Festival "Spring of Eunpyeong." A total of 800 participants will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 a.m. on the 8th until 6 p.m. on the 18th.
Applications can be made online through the Eunpyeong-gu Office website, Eunpyeong-gu Sports Council website, and Eunpyeong Bulgwangcheon Marathon website.
There are two marathon courses: the 10km course starts from the Bulgwangcheon Media Center, passes the Hongjecheon intersection, and turns back near Seongsan 1-gyo Bridge; the 5km course starts from the Bulgwangcheon Media Center and turns back at Jeungsan 3-gyo Bridge.
Participants must gather by 8 a.m. on the day of the event for warm-up exercises and the opening ceremony, and the 10km course will start at 9 a.m. Participants will receive a commemorative finisher's gift.
The district plans to ensure a safe event by deploying safety personnel at each section of the venue and thoroughly preparing facilities such as changing rooms, storage areas, and emergency medical booths.
Park Nak-heung, President of the Eunpyeong-gu Sports Council, stated, "We will prepare to make this a safe event that all residents can participate in."
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, "I am pleased to hold a marathon event that signals spring at Bulgwangcheon, a landmark and famous cherry blossom spot in Eunpyeong," adding, "I hope this will be a valuable time to energetically awaken the body and mind that have been dormant throughout the winter."
