Golf culture is gradually changing. It is shifting from a personal hobby to a family leisure activity. Golf is no longer just a pleasure for golfers but a sport to enjoy with family. Due to this change, a golf course being good alone is not enough to be the best. It must have good field conditions, food, and attractions. We introduce the ‘Field 3GO’ golf courses that are perfect for spending happy times with golf.
Bears Best Cheongna is a "dream golf course" featuring only world-class courses designed by Jack Nicklaus.
◆EnjoyGO= Bear’s Best Cheong Na Golf Club is a ‘dream field’ that gathers only the best courses from around the world. It features the best holes selected from 290 golf courses designed by the ‘living golf legend’ Jack Nicklaus (USA). Nicklaus won a record 18 major championships and was responsible for 51 of the world’s top 100 golf courses. Bear’s Best Cheong Na boasts signature holes brought from world-renowned golf courses such as Muirfield GC in the USA and Montecastillo Golf Resort in Spain.
“Bear” is Nicklaus’s nickname, meaning ‘Golden Bear.’ It signifies the best courses chosen by him. The name is only permitted for use at three clubs: Bear’s Best Vegas, Bear’s Best Atlanta, and Bear’s Best Cheong Na. There is no need to travel across four continents. You can experience masterpiece courses all in one place.
It is located in Cheongna International City, Incheon. The total area is 1,360,105㎡ (approximately 410,000 pyeong) with 27 holes. It was built on natural terrain where the sea, valleys, and mountains blend along the coast. Since it is land reclaimed from the sea, the fairways are flat. In the European course, you can see silver grass, reeds, and wildflowers. Coniferous forests and herbaceous plants are mixed in a wild manner. The American course features impressive autumn foliage and wildflower scenery harmonized with the blue of a large lake. The Australasian course creates a charming atmosphere following the flow of water.
It is famous as a tournament course. It has hosted domestic men’s and women’s championships such as the Korea Women’s Open, Shinhan Donghae Open, Lotte Open, and Hana Financial Group Championship. The fairways are planted with Kentucky bluegrass and perennial ryegrass, maintaining green fairways all year round. The greens are made of bentgrass, providing the best playing environment. The green speed is around 3.0. Wide holes for exhilarating driver shots and short but challenging holes are arranged skillfully. There are 116 bunkers. The course accommodates 120 teams per day at 7-minute intervals. It boasts the best accessibility and transportation in the metropolitan area. It takes 40 to 50 minutes by car from Seoul. There is less traffic congestion when returning home after a round.
◆EatGO= Bear’s Best Cheong Na features an elegant restaurant and banquet facilities. You can enjoy sophisticated dishes prepared by hotel-trained chefs in a clubhouse that rivals a luxury hotel. The banquet hall can accommodate 260 people simultaneously. It can handle everything from small gatherings to corporate seminars. Equipped with top-notch video and audio equipment, it is perfect for successful business meetings.
The clubhouse has a modern exterior, reminiscent of a ‘white house on a meadow.’ Bear’s Best’s design principle is that ‘the auxiliary facilities should not outshine the course.’ The clubhouse facilities are at a luxury hotel level, including locker rooms, saunas, and a pro shop. Convenience facilities are arranged horizontally on the first floor, considering the flow of golfers.
The restaurant can serve up to 150 people. It offers the best menu and elegant service fitting the best golf course. Many dishes are prepared by culinary artisans using the finest ingredients. The luxury-level service enhances the enjoyment of the round. There is a ‘Cheongpungmyeongwol’ set menu. In spring, it features a mellow ji-ri hot pot. It is a cool and clear soup full of the scent of spring radish leaves.
The start house is a shaded rest area that feels like a miniature clubhouse. There is one start house and two tee houses, small resting spots that blend with the green fairways. At the start house, you can eat dishes like jjukkumi jajangmyeon & jajangbap (small octopus black bean noodles & rice), shrimp tempura udon, and Korean beef soup. Spicy pork skin, rice balls, old-fashioned fried chicken, menbosha (fried shrimp toast), soup tteokbokki, and chili tempura are available as side dishes.
Bear’s Best Cheong Na also has a luxury detached housing complex called ‘The County.’ It covers 1.5 million㎡ (about 450,000 pyeong) with a total of 264 households, averaging 450㎡ (about 136 pyeong) per lot. This complex was sold out in 2015. It is the only housing complex located inside a golf course. While some membership golf clubs have detached housing complexes, they are all located on the outskirts of the golf course.
