Minister of Employment Conducts On-Site Inspection of Emergency Care Measures at Industrial Accident Hospitals

The Ministry of Employment and Labor has conducted an on-site inspection of the industrial accident hospitals under the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service, which are operating emergency medical systems in response to collective actions in the medical sector.

On the morning of the 6th, Minister Lee Jeong-sik of the Ministry of Employment and Labor visited the Daejeon Hospital of the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service, held an emergency medical countermeasure briefing with hospital officials, and took time to inspect the facilities and encourage the medical staff.

Since last month, the Ministry of Employment and Labor has established emergency medical countermeasures for each of the nine industrial accident hospitals nationwide under the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service and has been operating an emergency medical system. According to this system, essential medical facilities such as emergency rooms, operating rooms, and intensive care units are operated 24 hours a day, and outpatient services have been expanded, including extended weekday hours and Saturday clinics.

Minister of Employment Conducts On-Site Inspection of Emergency Care Measures at Industrial Accident Hospitals On the morning of the 6th, Lee Jeong-sik, Minister of Employment and Labor, visited the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service Daejeon Hospital in Daedeok-gu, Daejeon, where he inspected the facilities and listened to the medical staff's difficulties.

Daejeon Hospital shares daily status updates twice a day with Daejeon City Hall, Daejeon Police Station, and Daedeok-gu Public Health Center, and has established direct phone lines with local university hospitals such as Chungnam National University Hospital to ensure smooth patient transfer and referral in emergency situations, thereby operating an emergency medical system.

During the on-site inspection, the status of 24-hour operation of essential medical facilities was reviewed, and cooperation on patient transfer through the hotline established with Chungnam National University Hospital, a tertiary hospital in Daejeon, was discussed. Afterwards, Minister Lee toured the emergency room, operating rooms, wards, and the rehabilitation center expansion construction site, encouraging the medical staff and listening to their difficulties.

Minister Lee said, "As the collective action has continued for more than two weeks, the difficulties faced by the public due to medical service gaps are gradually increasing. Since this is a nationally challenging time, I hope that related organizations in the Daejeon area will continuously share emergency medical status and respond promptly to emergency situations."
