Actor Lee Won-jong, who publicly supported Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, in the last presidential election, referred to the upcoming April 10 general election as "a place to confront a newer ‘evil (惡)’." In response, Lee Won-jong said, "Elections are always important times, but this one is especially a place to confront a newer 'evil,' so please put in more effort, go into the local communities, and bring back votes one by one to achieve victory." He added, "I sincerely cheer you on," and "Stay strong and definitely win."

Regarding Lee Won-jong’s public endorsement, former lawmaker Jeon Yeo-ok voiced criticism on her social networking service (SNS). On her blog, Jeon wrote, "Celebrities also have the freedom to make political statements," but criticized, "'Exorcist' Lee Won-jong is campaigning for the Democratic Party again this time." She continued, "The way Lee Jae-myung is pushing through the Democratic Party nominations is truly grotesque," and sarcastically added, "Lee Won-jong still lives grotesquely like a gangster from the Wild Man Era, like an exorcist."

Finally, Jeon also pointed out, "(During the last presidential election) he said, 'I felt Lee Jae-myung’s sincerity and decided to support him,' and hoped he would definitely become president," adding, "His 'sincerity' is a bloody purge and the idolization of Lee Jae-myung, which is a statement on par with a 'North Korean People’s Actor.'"
